I found this car resting in a field just outside
Little Rock in
Arkansas back in 1989. Discovered while getting lost in a
rental car during a 5 week New York to LA cross country road
trip. In dreadful shape but I had to have it - emerald green,
factory air - my all time favorite car.
(You've all been there.... gotta have it syndrome).
The '56 spent the next 8 years in storage just outside Oklahoma,
whilst I relocated from England to Los Angeles. I shipped the car
to LA in late 1997, when I began to dismantle it for a full frame
off restoration. Two weeks after I moved the car from Oklahoma,
the small town where it was stored was leveled by a tornado.
Interesting addition: my '56 shared the field with 11 '53
Eldorados
( I have pictures)....the owner was too busy restoring the '53's
and knew he wouldn't get around to the '56 before it rusted away,
so he sold it to me. |
